- طلاب Year 9 يؤدون امتحانات الشهادة الإعدادية في العربي والدراسات الاجتماعية والدين.
- امتحان الشهادة في العربي والتاريخ على منهج الصف الثاني بنظام البكالوريا المصرية.

National subjects for IG students: what changed?
Last updated 25 October 2026
Ministerial Decree 148 of 2024 requires Egyptian students at international schools to study Arabic, History (Social Studies up to Grade 9) and Religious Education on the national curriculum. On 20 October 2026 the Minister of Education said the decision is final, and refused to make the subjects pass/fail only.
| Stage | Subjects | How they count |
|---|---|---|
| Up to Grade 9 (Year 9) | Arabic, Social Studies, Religion | Arabic and Social Studies 10% each of the stage total |
| Grades 10–12 | Arabic, History, Religion | Taught in every school year |
| Certificate | Arabic and History | 20% of the total (10% each), from a general exam set by the ministry |
| Religion | Islamic or Christian | Outside the total, but the pass mark is 70% |
Who is affected, and when?
- According to the ministry, Arabic and History count toward the total from the 2027/28 school year.
- IG students who finish secondary in two years are affected this year (2026/27), as it is their final year.
- Year 9 students sit the national prep-certificate exams in Arabic, Social Studies and Religion.
- The certificate exam in Arabic and History follows the national 2nd-year Egyptian Baccalaureate curriculum.
